The Lanzarote Volcano Triathlon celebrated its thirtieth edition the last weekend.
Romain Guillaume, a Pro Triatlón Equipo uPlace-BMC member, has won this highly demanding Olympic event, the Lanzarote Volcano Triathlon, with an exact recorded time of 01:58:15. Jammaer Bert took the second place, and the third one was for the Canary Rayco Marrero. Is the fifth victory of the season for this athlete.
After obtaining a forth place on the swimming competition, Romain made his podium after 5 km on his bike. He had to generate a lead of nearly two minutes on T2. The athlete ended with a strong race achieving the win.
Although today’s race was part of the athlete’s preparation for his main objective, the Lanzarote Ironman on the 17h of May, Romain was happy with his victory: «Just finishing a two-week block is a boost of confidence, with 5 hours of daily training. I was unsure about how would I be feeling, especially since I just started with Yves Cordier and I have been focusing more on volume training, which is a complete change for me. But I felt good all day. I still have work to do, but this is definitely a good training run. Surely, now thinking about the next Lanzarote Ironman.»
On the women category, the triumph of Castro Salette, with the solvency showed for Ironman Lanzarote. On the second place and with 4 minutes, came the Belgian Debbie Vertraeten, While the third with a 6m distance was Entro Carrit.
This competition consisted of 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10 km running.
